FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does it cost?

Your first consultancy is free. Anyone in the building and construction industry can contact us for information and guidance about licensing.  In fact, we’ll look after you until we are ‘officially’ engaged to do work. We also offer a range of payment options. Costs will vary depending on what type of licence you require. Speak to us and we can provide you with a quote and explain the process.

What can L2T help me with exactly?

We can facilitate just about anything (turnkey services) and can be the one point of contact for you. We know licensing and eligibility requirements so we can do the up-front work. We have access to nationally accredited qualifications, consultancy, and legal services required.

How long does it take?

Each application is different. It all depends on what you have on hand and how long it takes you to compile the information we need. The type of licence also has an impact on how long it takes. Allow 30 days initially and we can go from there.

Do you guarantee a licence?

No. We are not a Government Licensing Authority. Even the Government cannot guarantee a licence outcome. However, we can dramatically increase your chances and do all the heavy lifting. The application process is complicated. Submitting a strong application makes all the difference.

What if I apply and I'm rejected?

The Government Licensing Authority will provide feedback before they deny an application. We help facilitate any changes to your application to work through these challenges.  If you are refused a licence based on your first application, don’t sweat it!  You can obtain a detailed reason for decision which becomes your checklist to lodge a fresh application in the future.

I'm in, what do I do now?

Complete the form below and one of our consultants will be in touch, it’s that simple!

6 Key things you need to know about applying for a builder licence.

Check your eligibility first. We can help with that. There is no point worrying about the application process if you're not eligible.  Get the story straight the first time!

Each state is different. There will be different applications and information required by each Government Licensing Authority.

Regardless of which state you apply for a builder’s licence, you will need to submit a portfolio of your work, including licensed referees.

Follow the rules and win by the rules. If at first you don't succeed, simply try again. Fix the gaps and re-apply.

LOCK DOWN YOUR REFEREES - The most common pitfall leading to licence application refusals, is the lack of acceptable referees.

ON POINT PROJECTS – Make sure you identify specific projects that will meet the licensing bodies assessment criteria for the scope of the licence class.
